Life with a newborn is a round-the-clock adventure, but you should not lose hope! By ages 3 to 4 months, most babies can sleep at least five hours at a time. That means sleep for you as a parent! At some point during your baby’s first year, night time stretches of 10 hours are totally possible.
In the meantime, check out these 5 useful tips to improve your sleep quality. A little creativity can help you sneak in as much sleep as possible!
5 Tips to Improve Your Sleep Quality (and Duration!)
✔️ 1. Use a voice activated baby monitor!
Studies have shown that using a voice activated baby monitor like Bebcare can increase the duration of your sleep and reduce your stress levels. What voice activation does is that the Bebcare baby monitor goes into a sleep mode when there’s no sound in your baby’s room. The screen and sound turns off to help you sleep more soundly at night.
✔️ 2. Sleep when your baby sleeps.
Silence your phone, hide the laundry basket and ignore the dishes in the kitchen sink. Calls and chores can wait. Take advantage of the latest technology to help you sleep. For example, the newest iOS Version 15 comes with extensive sleep control to reduce your screen time at night.
✔️ 3. Set aside social graces.
When friends and loved ones visit, don’t offer to be the host. Instead, ask if they could watch the baby while you take a nap. Your friends and family are happy to help.
✔️ 4. Don’t ‘bed share’ during sleep.
It’s OK to bring your baby into your bed for nursing or comforting — but return your baby to the crib or bassinet when you’re ready to go back to sleep.
✔️ 5. Split duties with your partner.
If possible, work out a schedule with your partner that allows each of you alternately to rest and care for the baby. This is one of the most effective ways to increase your sleep duration.
